GH Fabrications designs and fabricates ventilation control devices and mine site steelwork at our workshop in Tomago, and our main mining focus is underground coal. The Upper Hunter is a straightforward road trip from Tomago, and every product is designed to be easy to transport to the mine, take underground and install.
Ventilation control devices
We make a full range of ventilation control devices, from unrated lightweight designs through to 5 PSI rated:
- Airlocks: unrated, 2 PSI and 5 PSI rated. The 5 PSI airlock is fully built in our workshop and bolts into position underground with no assembly.
- Overcasts: portal frame, unrated purlin, rated sloped-sided and rated splayed. Portal frame overcasts use a larger RHS section, so no roof or wall braces are needed.
- Regulators: machine door and four-panel regulators with adjustable louvres that lock in position.
- Machine doors, Bobcat doors and hatches: doors come unrated, 2 PSI or 5 PSI rated, and hatches come unrated or rated, made to suit your wall thickness.
- Man access doors: unrated, 2 PSI and 5 PSI rated, in standard sizes or to suit a flexible stopping.
- Coffin seals: to suit any size conveyor belt, with wear parts that can be replaced on site.
All rated designs are certified by GHF's engineer.
Stairs, ramps and ladders
Our stairs, ramps and ladders can be used as standalone products or with our overcast structures. Stairs can have non-slip treads and can be powder coated in a range of colours to improve safety on site. Ramps come with handrails on both sides, drop-in grates and fully adjustable legs. Ladders come in simple rung or step ladder styles, using the same treads as our stairs.

- Depth gauges to suit your nominated wall thickness
- U-tubes and S-traps in 100 mm and 150 mm material
- Victaulic pipes, cast into stoppings for drainage or services
- Gas sample pipes, standard 1050 mm inside length, with longer options
- Stopping poles, standard 2.2 metres shut and 3.9 metres open, or made to your nominated size
Built to travel and go underground
Our designs keep transport and installation simple. 2PSI airlocks come flat-packed, machine doors are fabricated in quarter panels to reduce transport costs and fitting problems, and overcast roof panels are hinged to the wall panels so they drop into place. We work in steel, stainless steel and alloys, and design each product to suit your site.
