This guide sets out which ratings are available for each product, how rated designs are certified, and what to send us for a quote. Your mine's ventilation requirements set the rating, so tell us the rating your site specifies and we will build to it.
Rating options by product
- Airlocks: unrated, 2PSI and 5PSI rated. The 2PSI airlock is a lightweight modular design that can be transported in flat pack. The 5PSI airlock has a standard size of 3.0 x 1.4 x 2.2 metres high.
- Overcasts: portal frame overcasts come unrated, 2PSI or 5PSI rated. We also make an unrated purlin and iron overcast, a rated sloped-sided overcast and a rated splayed overcast for angled cut throughs.
- Regulators: machine door regulators and four-panel regulators come unrated, 2PSI or 5PSI rated. We also make an unrated four-panel regulator with a man access door panel.
- Machine doors and Bobcat doors: unrated, 2PSI or 5PSI rated.
- Hatches: unrated or rated, with no back door, an unrated back door or a rated back door.
- Man access doors: unrated, 2PSI or 5PSI rated, in standard sizes of 1 metre square, 1500 x 1 metre and 1800 x 1 metre.
- Coffin seals and ancillary devices: made to suit your belt size, structure or nominated size. Contact us with your requirements.
Rated designs and engineer certification
All rated designs are certified by GHF’s engineer. Rated machine doors keep the same overall design as the unrated version, in heavier material, and come with a hinged man access door as standard. Rated man access doors have a sliding air relief panel as standard.
We can supply our quality assurance and environmental policies if your business needs them.
Designed to transport and install underground
Each product is designed to be easy to transport to the mine, take underground and install. The 5PSI airlock is fully manufactured in our workshop, so it can be taken underground and bolted into position with no assembly. Portal frame overcasts use a larger RHS section in the panels, so no roof or wall braces are needed, and the roof panels are hinged to the wall panels for faster installation. Machine doors are fabricated in quarter panels, which makes a neat package that reduces transport costs and fitting problems.
We have delivered our mining products to mines across New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia through trusted subcontractor partnerships.

Frequently asked questions
Which products come in 2PSI and 5PSI rated designs?
Airlocks, portal frame overcasts, machine door and four-panel regulators, machine doors, Bobcat doors and man access doors. Hatches come unrated or rated.
Who certifies your rated designs?
All rated designs are certified by GHF's engineer.
When does an unrated design suit?
Our lightweight unrated man access doors are suitable for low pressure areas. Your mine's ventilation requirements set the rating, so tell us the rating your site specifies.
Can a rated door also regulate airflow?
Yes. Rated man access doors have a sliding air relief panel that can be used as a regulator and locked open at five different increments. Our machine doors have a sliding relief panel that can be locked off in different increments. For full airflow control, see our regulators.
